Breeding
Since the foundation of the Rinderzuchtverband Berlin-Brandenburg eG (RZB) in 1990 and of the RBB Rinderproduktion Berlin-Brandenburg GmbH in 1991, we have become a strong and forward thinking partner for farmers. With breeding, insemination and marketing under one roof ,we run an efficient organisation for the success of our members and customers.
We see ourselves as representing our breeders and voice this via active publicity. We also takeresponsibility when it comes to further education. Conferences, workshops and educationalvisits give farmers the latest information Cattle breeding is also supported by participation inshows and our promotion of young breeders.
125,000 herd book cows of whichmore than 90 % areGerman Holsteins are a solid basis for our innovative breeding program. Breeding improvement and the good management of our breeders is demonstrated by annual production of more than 9,000 kg milk per cow withAn average herd size of 315 cows
Our young bulls are tested under real, practical circumstances on farms bound by contract ,the basis for an optimal and reliable proof run. Furthermore, within the test herd program RBBPLUS, additional data on secondary traits for fertility and functionality are reliably collected at big breeding farms with average herds size of more than 600 cows. Better information, reliability and financial profit come to the farmer through trouble-free and functional cows from our breeding program!
Our benchmarks are our customers demands and the markets requirements. Whether the fitness index RZFit or genomic breeding evaluation we are working for dairy farmers.
A characteristic of our breeding area is the gene resource Deutsches Schwarzbuntes Niederungsrind (DSN) dual purpose breed. More than 50 % 1,500 herd book cows of the available breeding population in Germany can be found here. Breeders develop and care for this native breed through a special program in the state of Brandenburg.
In Brandenburg, beef cattle breeding is characterized by breed variety, objective production tests and, based upon this, the proof run according to the multiple trait BLUP animal model. More than 7,000 cows are registered in the herd book. Uckermärker (Germanys newest beef breed), German Beef Simmental, Charolais, Limousin, Angus and Hereford are the most common. Robust, healthy, flexible and strong in production the cattle from our breeding area are also recommended for all--year-round free-range housing.
